The Atlanta Children’s Film Festival is two weeks of fun and educational activities, including film screenings and workshops for children, teens, families and industry professionals. Showcasing films produced by youth and adult independent filmmakers from around the world, the festival promotes positive, educational and entertaining children and family-oriented programs.
This year’s theme is Dreams to Action. There will be awesome guest teachers/speakers: Fran Burst-Terranella, Emmy-Award winning independent film and television producer and director, Janlatae Mullin, Award winning director, and Ken Viselman, the producer of some of the most ground-breaking and successful children’s TV series of all time, which includes Thomas the Tank Engine and Teletubbies.

Intro to Animation Workshop (Online)
In this workshop, students will learn the basic concepts of creating animation, which includes timing, staging, anticipation, storytelling and tweening.

Intro to Filmmaking Camp (Hybrid)
List of classes and times below. Students will work together and produce a short film.

Intro to Filmmaking (Part 1 – Production Process) Online
Students will learn the production process from pre-production to post-production.
Intro to Filmmaking (Part 2 – Script Writing Workshop) Online
Students will learn how to write a short film script.
Intro to Filmmaking (Part 3 – Script Writing Workshop) Online
Students will work together as a writing team to create a short film.
Intro to Filmmaking Part 4 – Acting.) Online
Student will learn from acclaimed acting instructor, Kelly Young-Silvia. In this workshop, students will be introduced to the world of acting through fun learning acting techniques and prepare to act in short film.
Intro to Filmmaking (Part 5 – Production Workshop) In-Person
Students will learn about film recording equipment, camera movement and composition while recording their short film.

Word in Motion Acting Workshop with Kelly Young-Silvia, Acting Instructor
Do you want to be a professional child actor? Come find out how with acclaimed acting instructor, Kelly Young-Silvia. Several of her students have been in top movies including Coming to America II and Aretha. In this workshop, students will be introduced to the world of acting through fun learning acting techniques. In addition, students will learn how to prepare for an acting audition. Come meet a professional casting director and agent that will give advice to children and parents at free.

Youth will be introduced to the world of filmmaking, meet media professionals and learn the production process. Students will write a short script about themselves and record it on camera. In addition, youth will learn and practice using equipment.

Students will walk through the animation pipeline and try their hand at animating and voice acting via stop-motion paper cut-out workshop. You don’t need previous experience or the ability to draw to join in on the fun!
