We understand the powerful impact that media has on today’s youth. With a 50–75% increase in media usage since the onset of COVID, many young people are exposed to a digital landscape that can foster negative self-image, depression, and anxiety. To combat these issues, KVC is dedicated to teaching media literacy to help youth understand and navigate the messages they encounter every day. We aim to empower students to become independent thinkers and positive content creators, offering them a safe space to express themselves through video production.
By focusing on media literacy, we give young people the tools to analyze, evaluate, and create media responsibly, thus allowing them to make wiser choices in their digital lives. Our mission is to use video production as a dynamic tool to teach today’s youth essential skills in media literacy, communication, and critical thinking. Through our engaging workshops, we aim to help students develop not only the technical skills required to produce their own media but also the critical thinking skills necessary to consume media thoughtfully. We envision KVC becoming the leading media arts organization in Georgia, inspiring youth to learn, think, create, and communicate through the powerful medium of video. By teaching students the principles of media literacy and encouraging them to produce their own videos, we’re helping them to develop skills that will benefit them for years to come. Our goal is to ensure that every student we work with leaves equipped to navigate the digital world responsibly, while also being prepared for exciting opportunities in the fields of film, television, and digital media.
Whether you have questions about our workshops, want to get involved in our film festival, or are looking to explore how we can inspire your child’s creativity, we’re here to help!
